At approximately 2:46 pm this afternoon a delivery driver for Blue Ridge Beverage of South Boston, VA reported that he had been robbed. He reported that he was stopped in a delivery truck near the intersection of Industrial Avenue and Jefferson Street when a black male wearing a mask and glasses approached him, displayed a handgun, and got into the truck. After surrendering over $1,200 in cash, he reported that the suspect fled on foot in the area of Industrial Avenue and Holbrook Avenue.
In the course of the investigation, investigators discovered that the complainant made a false report and took the aforementioned cash himself. The cash was subsequently recovered. As a result Steven Maurise Winston, age 39 of Clover, VA was charged with filing a false police report and grand larceny. He was arrested and is currently being held in the Danville City Jail under a $1,500 secured bond.
