Drug Enforcement Administration Washington Division reported that the Prescription Take Back event conducted across the nation on October 29, 2011 was a success and that the Commonwealth of Virginia collected 9,450.4 pounds of unwanted, unused, and potentially harmful drugs.
The local Take Back initiatives in Danville and Pittsylvania County were conducted by local law enforcement, community partners and the Regional Alliance for Substance Abuse Prevention and contributed to the overall success of the event with a total of 163 pounds of prescription drugs collected.
