Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA)

IRS-certified volunteers provide free basic income tax return preparation with electronic filing to qualified individuals.

Tax assistance information through the IRS's Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program offers FREE TAX HELP (both federal and state) to people who make $56,000 or less, persons with disabilities, and limited English speaking taxpayers who need assistance in preparing their own tax returns.

Tax Counseling for the Elderly (TCE)

Tax Counseling for the Elderly (TCE) programs offer free basic tax return preparation to qualified individuals who are 60 years of age and older, specializing in questions about pensions and retirement-related issues unique to seniors.


For many years, the Danville Public Library has hosted the AARP Tax Aide program to help seniors prepare their annual state and federal taxes. Unfortunately, coronavirus concerns canceled the program for 2020 and 2021.
