Police set date for enforcing skill games ban

News Alert

The Danville Police Department will begin enforcement of illegal skill games at all establishments in the city of Danville after a compliance deadline of Friday, December 15. This comes after the Virginia Supreme Court's lifting of an injunction on this ban on Oct. 13, 2023.

Interim Chief Chris Wiles in collaboration with Danville Commonwealth's Attorney Michael J. Newman and City of Danville Commissioner of Revenue James Gillie, and members of City of Danville staff drafted a letter to this effect soon after the decision by the court to inform local businesses and to provide notice.

The Danville Police Department hand delivered this letter to business location where skill games are in operation during the week of November 9. Letters were also mailed to business license holders of the locations during the week of November 16.
