Over 125 Years of Dedicated Service

The Danville Fire Department is proud to have served the citizens of Danville, Virginia since its organization on January 1, 1884. At that time, with C. S. Bennett as chief, the department operated out of a single fire station with:

  • One Button fire engine
  • Two Ainsleys
  • One hose reel
  • Four horses

The department has striven to meet the needs of a growing community and now consists of 145 professional men and women that operate out of seven fire stations. We are proud of our history (PDF), accomplishments, and the service that we have provided to the citizens of Danville for over 125 years.
