Barry Mayo

Current Term: July 1, 2020 - December 31, 2024

Barry Mayo is a native of Danville, VA, and proud graduate of George Washington High School. He attended University of New York and Northcentral University where he received his Bachelors in Liberal Arts and Masters in Education Athletic Administration from Northcentral University respectively. 

Mr. Mayo currently works at Danville Community College with the TARE and SCALE-UP programs. These programs focus on training citizens of Danville & Pittsylvania County for employment, job preparation, and short term career studies. Previously, Mr. Mayo worked with Pittsylvania Community Action for twelve years, including a position as Case Manager assisting ex-offenders re-entering  the community for Southwest CARES. Mr. Mayo also worked for District 14’s Probation & Parole assisting returning citizens with the re-entry process. 

Mr. Mayo has served as a mentor for young men ages 8-18 and has been active in the community throughout his life. He currently serves on the Board of Directors for PATHS and the Pittsylvania County Community Action Board. In addition to being active in his church, Mr. Mayo is a member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Incorporated. He is a proud father of three children: Eric and Derrick who are 29 and Rachel who is 15.
