FIXED ROUTE PASSENGER RESTRICTIONS: COVID-19
To support social distancing goals and recent guidance issued by the Virginia Department of Rail and Public Transportation, effective Monday, April 6, 2020 Danville Transit will limit the number of passengers transported in fixed route service at one time to nine (9) persons including children. Bus drivers have been directed to stop at all bus stops where passengers are attempting to board a fixed-route bus. Transit drivers will inform passengers who are unable to board they will be transported by a Reserve A Ride driver. Fixed route drivers will inform office staff to dispatch Reserve A Ride buses to bus stops and passengers who are unable to board a fixed-route bus will be transported to another bus stop of their choice for the fixed route bus fare. Please note passengers may need to wait up to 15 minutes for a Reserve A Ride bus to arrive at their bus stop. Danville Transit will schedule additional drivers in service to support this service change. Danville Transit appreciates your patience with this temporary service adjustment.
Bus Cleaning: COVID-19 (Coronavirus)
In response to concerns regarding COVID-19, also known as the coronavirus, Danville Transit has provided drivers with disposable gloves and anti-bacterial wipes. In addition, the transit system disinfects each bus placed in service on a daily basis. Drivers are instructed to wipe down frequently touched surfaces before starting their run. This cleaning and disinfecting process will remain in place, enhancing the regularly scheduled bus cleaning activities, until further notice.
While cleaning surfaces is one important part of controlling infections, personal protection is also very important. We recommend that our riders follow the CDC guidelines for personal protection, which includes everyday actions to help prevent the spread of respiratory diseases, such as avoiding close contact with people who are sick, staying home when you are sick, avoiding touching your eyes, nose and mouth, and properly washing your hands frequently.
